SINCERE LOVE – Part 1

Text:Romans 12:9-13

Introduction:The love of Christ is described in the Scriptures as being sincere, genuine, pure, and true!  Could you imagine if the church actually loved people sincerely, genuinely, purely, and honestly?  The world would be transformed!  People would be rushing into the church, to become Christians, to experience the this true love…love without ulterior motives. 

Point 1: Love that is Sincere!

  • “Let love be without hypocrisy” Romans 12:9-13 
  • Sincere (Greek #505) “Anupokritas

*Without dissimulation which means to conceal evil or ulterior motives of an action.  To be unfeigned.

*To be undisguised or being real.  To be unfeigned which means to be genuine.

*To live and act without hypocrisy.  Hypocrisy which means to be fake to play act a part for show.

*Presenting no false appearance.To be pure and honest.

  • Other verses: 2 Corth 6:6, 2 Tim. 1:5, 1 Pet. 1:22, Ja. 3:17 

Point 2: Love that is Genuine!

  • “…who will be genuinely concerned” 2:19-22 
  • Genuine (Greek #1103)“Gnesios

*Legitimate birth or origin,ie. Genuine or real

*Legitimately born, not spurious but rather genuine. Spurious means lacking authenticity or validity

*Lawfully begotten or created thus true and genuine

*Actually produced by the source.  Not a counterfeit but authentic

  • Note:It is interesting to note that the Greek word “Gnesios” is derived from the Greek word for Genesis which means the original or first one.
