THE GOAL OF OUR INSTRUCTION IS LOVE…FROM…

Text:1 Timothy 1:5  and John 13:34-35

Introduction: The result or “Goal” of our preaching and teaching is to produce in the faithful brethren a love for other Christians and also a love for mankind in the exact same manner as Jesus loved and loves even still. 

Point 1:The End Goal…Love!

  • The Apostles taught with purpose and so should we! 
  • Goal(Greek #5056)“Telos

*To set out for a definite place or destination

*To point or aim at as a limit

*The purpose or result of effort

*The conclusion of an action or a state of being

  • Love(Greek #26)“Agape”

*An abiding affection and benevolence for others

*The sacrificial love of God for man

*The sacrificial love of Christians for other Christians and those who are not Christians

Point  2:…of Our Instruction…!

As good soldiers of the Captain of the Lord of Hosts… 

  • Instruction (Greek #3852)“Paraggelia

*Strong’s Concordance- A mandate; a charge, a command to action 

*Thayer’s Greek Dictionary- a charge or command used of Christian teaching relative to right living. 

*Vines Dictionary- of military origin.  To pass on an announcement, hence denotes to give an order, a charge or command from superiors. 

  • 1 Thess. 4:1-2 The apostle Paul as a good soldier in the Lord’s army passes on the Lord’s commandments to the Christians in Thessalonica. 
  • John 13:34-35 Jesus Himself commands us to love one another just like He sacrificially loved us when He walked the earth.
