Text:John 14:23-26 and John 13:34-36
Introduction:Our union with one another depends on our living by the faith of Christ which produces the love of Christ in our lives. Loving each other from the heart with the sincere and genuine love of Christ will produce unity in the fellowship of the saints.
Point 1: The State of Our Union with Christ
- “Our union with Christ begins with our love for Christ.”
- John 14:23-26 If we sincerely love Jesus Christ we will listen to His word and do what it says. If we do this then He will come and make His home in us!
- Romans 6:1-5 When a person is immersed into Christ they are severed from the world and they are joined to Christ Jesus.
- John 15:1-8 When we are united with Christ and living for Him we are fruitful in bringing others to a saving knowledge of Christ, glorifying God!
Point 2: The State of Our Union with Each Other
- “Our union with each other begins with our love of Christ”
- John 13:34-36 We must genuinely love one another exactly like Christ loves us. This demonstration of love will prove to the outside world that we are indeed disciples of Christ. 1 John 3:16-17
- John 17:22-23 Jesus said that the glory we possess once we become Christians is designed to unit us together in Christian unity.
- Colossians 3:12-14 As Christian we are called to put on the heart of Christ. This includes the many character qualities of glory such as compassion, kindness, gentleness, and humility. Ephesians 4:1-3 & Philippians 2:1-5
