Truth Statement #1 “I Am The Way”

Text:John 14:1-6 and 1 Corinthians 11:1
Introduction: Contrary to contemporary belief there is only one way to eternal life! It is called the strait and narrow way. A way filled with challenges and difficulties but also great purpose and victories! Jesus is that one way and we gain access to eternal life and heaven by doing the God the Father’s will by faithfully observing the Bible.
Point 1: Jesus is the Only Way into God’s Kingdom!
- To follow Jesus is to follow in the narrow way
- The Way (3598) “Hodos”
Contextual meaning: A course of conduct, a way of thinking, a manner of life. The moral standard that produces Christ-like behavior.
- The Way of Righteousness Matthew 21:23-32
John the Baptist did the will of God and sinners who do the same are granted access into heaven.
Thus… “The Way” is to do the will of God!
- The Will of the Father John 4:34, 5:30 & 6:38
Jesus had free will. He chose to do the will of His Father and not His own will.
Thus… “To do God’s will according to Scripture is the way into eternal life and heaven.
Point 2: The Church of Christ is Called “The Way”
- The church is literally the embodiment of Christ!
- The Church, “The Way,” is the embodiment of Christ
Acts 9:1-6 Following the context leads us to believe that Christians, the true church, is the embodiment of Christ, who is the Way!
Acts 19:9,23; 24:22
- A individual Christian is the embodiment of Christ
Galatians 2:20 The “Old Man”crucified- the “New Man” is Christ in you.
Roms. 8:9, Gal. 6:15-16 & 5:6
- Children of God do the will of their Father in Heaven
Mark 3: 31-5 As God’s children we will gain entrance only through doing His will.
1 John 2:15-17 & 4:15-17
- Conformed Through Renewal and Transformation
Romans 8:29-30 God’s spiritual goal is that we be conformed to Christ’s image. Titus 3:5-7 & Roms. 12:1-2
Conclusions: Christ and the church show the way to Heaven
