The Power of Perseverance – “The Foundations for Perseverance!”

This morning, after having introduced the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ’s annual theme, The 4th Law of Momentum- “The Power of Perseverance!” and examining the anchor verses of Revelation 14:12 and Hebrews 10:36 in the last two sermons, we are now introducing the first unit of study which is titled, “The Foundations of Perseverance.”  The sermon this morning will be a broad brush introduction to the three key foundational elements for the power to develop, build, and sustain perseverance in our Christian life so we fulfill the will of God and receive the prize of eternal life with Christ in heaven.  Hebrews 12:1-3 gives us the perfect illustration of these three substructures for our perseverance.  The Faith of Christ is the first foundational element.  We will introduce the race, runner, and rule for the Faith of Christ.  The second element of this crucial foundation is the Hope of Christ.  We will briefly look at the purpose, pain, and prize of the Hope of Christ in our lives.  Then finally, we will see how the Love of Christ, can provide for us the needed endurance, energy, and ultimate exultation with Him in heaven.  In subsequent sermons we will examine more closely the facets of each of the foundational elements to giving us the power of perseverance for the challenges ahead.
