The Deadly Sin That Destroys Trust

Welcome to a new year with limitless possibilities to love and serve the Lord Jesus!  It is very exciting when you know and are convinced that the LORD reigns over all that is seen and unseen.  He is the one and only true Sovereign and we are His beloved subjects!  There is much peace, joy, and happiness when we live according to this understanding, this truth!  We must never forget though, the devil wants to destroy this peace, joy, and happiness through fear of man, suffering, and death.  If our convictions are true to God’s word, there is but one to fear, He is the LORD!

The fear of God for the man and woman of faith, is a deep and abiding reverence, awe, and adoration of the one who has created all things and all peoples.  The fear of the LORD is actually a love for Him and His word.  The Fear of the LORD also includes a deep seated hatred for all that is evil and perverse.  It must also be told, Fear of the LORD includes the dread and terror of His wrath and judgment for those who do not know God or obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This morning we begin the New Year by reviewing our theme from last year and then introducing our them for this year.   We will look at a comparison of those who trust in the Lord and those who do not.  We will also quickly review the four pillars of building trust.  We will begin by giving a quick scripture reference to the major topics for our theme this year, “The 6th Law of Momentum- The Power of Fear!”  This year we will examine the several “Fear Not” topics such as fear of man, fear of suffering, and fear of death and the contrasting courage we are called to possesses to overcome these fears.  More importantly we will discover that the fear of the LORD is multi-faceted in nature.  To fear God is to love, revere, adore, and obey our Creator and His word, ever knowing that only those who remain faithful will enter into His glory on the last day!
