PURITY OF HEART- “Walking in Wisdom and Fear”

Text: 1 Timothy 1:5, Proverbs 28:14 & Proverbs 28:26
Introduction: Our purity of heart depends our hatred of evil, loving and trusting the Lord, believing His ways are right, and choosing to live our lives according to His standard of life.
Point 1: The Curse of a Calloused, Misguided Heart
- Trusting “Self” and not God causes hardened hearts
- Do not trust in “Self” who loves not the LORD
- Jeremiah 17:5, 9 &10 The person who trusts in their own wisdom or in the wisdom of others will find themselves consistently in trouble
- Proverbs 3:5 &6 Do not be wise in your own eyes, trust only in the Lord and His wisdom.
- Do not “Harden Your Heart” through ignorance
- Ephesians 4:17-19 People are hardened because they are selfish and ignorant of God’s standards for living and live according to the world’s standards.
- Calloused:The conscience becomes unfeeling, unable to determine what is good or what is evil
Point 2: The Blessings of Fearing God & Being Wise
- To purify the heart is to construct God’s standard
- Fearing God and being blessed Prov. 28:14
- Proverbs 8:13 To fear God is to hate evil, pride, arrogance, sin, evil, and perverted words and conversations.
- Psalm 128:1-5 When a person chooses to fear the Lord they will receive five wonderful blessings in their life and in their family.
- Walking wisely and being blessed Prov. 28:26
- Proverbs 3:14-18 The Lord will grant blessing greater than just money and possessions. He will give your life real purpose and meaning. He will grant you true pleasure, joy and tranquility that the money and possessions can never give.
