Truth Statement #2 “I Am The Truth” Part 2
Text:John 8:31 and 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12
Introduction:Two critical questions will be asked in this lesson. First, “Are you honestly a Truth Seeker?” The second is like the first, “Do honestly love the Truth?” A person’s eternal existence depends on how the answer and respond to these questions. The Lesson will be based on a series of questions about the several Scriptures addressing the issue of the two main questions. It is of eternal importance that the disciple answer these questions.
Point 1: Are You a Truth Seeker or Man Pleaser?
- Are you seeking, following, and practicing Christ?
- John 8:31-47Are you literally“standing in” or living according to the teachings of God’s word or are you following the perverse philosophies of the world?
Eph. 4:20-21,Col.2:8, 2 Tim. 3:14-15
- 2 Timothy 2:15 Are you being earnest and diligent in studying God’s Word so you will be approved by God? Handling the word of truth correctly! 6:17, Heb. 4:12-13
- Hebrews 5:11-14 Are you an infant or are you mature in spiritual truths. Are you practicing the Word of God to train your senses to discern good and evil? 1 Peter 1:1-2:3
Point 2: Do You Love Truth or Are You Deceived?
- All that glitters is not gold! Are you being deceived?
- 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12 Are you being pulled away by the deceiving influences of imposters, misleaders, and deceivers? 1 Tim. 4:1-3
- Ephesians 4:14 In the context, we are to grow into mature Christians, not pulled away by false teaching or trickery of men in deceitful scheming 2 Peter 2:1-19, Jude 1:3-4; 8-16
- 2 Timothy 4:1-4 Will you love the truth so much that you will never turn away from if for the teaching’s of man? John 14:15 & John 13:34-35
